Octavian and Julio-Claudian notes.
Octavian was the nephew do Julius Caesar, and was named his heir. In someone's will, you can adopt people, and Julius adopts him as his son. Octavian and Antony forma alliance. (triumvirate: Octavian, Mark Antony, Lepidus) they split up the world of Rome amongst themselves. Octavian gets west from Italy over, Antony gets from Greece to Egypt, and Lepidus takes the east. Actium is the place were the battle took place. Marcus Agrippa defeat Antony and Cleopatra. Antony commits suicide, Cleopatra lets a venomous snake poison her. Octavian becomes the sole power in Rome. Honored by the senate and becomes Augustus. He becomes the first king of Rome, and the republic is over. He is the first of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. After Octavian died, the rest of the kings were not very good.
